Master's Market is a place where families in need can receive food, clothes, used furniture and appliances. Master's Market is located at 5751 E. Reno Ave. in Midwest City and serves families in the surrounding areas.

On Tuesdays and Fridays, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., individuals may arrive at Master's Market and present their requests for food and clothes. There is an interview process with a counselor to determine how Master's Market can best meet the needs.

Master's Market is located on E. Reno Avenue, just east of Sooner Road (right next to Anthony's TV in Midwest City).

Central Oklahoma Community Action Agency's Family Support Services provides direct help for families to meet basic needs for food, clothing, utilities, and housing costs. Family Support Services provides a food pantry, temporary housing, home buyer education, and family budget counseling. Personalized follow-up with each family ensures that needs are being met.

Neighbor for Neighbor bases its assistance on the family's needs. Services include: utility bill payments (water, gas, electricity), food for those times when there is no food due to job loss or other family problems or a delay in getting food stamps, household goods such as pots and pans, linens, blankets, etc. are given to families who have lost their home to fire or suffered some other catastrophe, prescriptions for people who cannot otherwise afford medication, if transportation to a new job is needed, NFN will pay bus fare or supply gasoline for a client's vehicle until the first payday. NFN will purchase birth certificates by referral from DHS or an employment agency for clients born in Oklahoma.

CLOTHING & HOUSEHOLD ITEMS
The Jesus House Free Store across from the main shelter provides used clothing, furniture and household goods free of charge.

CRISIS ASSISTANCE
Broken families, domestic violence, pending disability or unemployment cases, house fires, and other situations create crises for the poor. Jesus House assists with rent, utilities, transportation, and prescription medicine.

RECOVERY
Christian counseling and a spiritual program of steps toward a drug or alcohol free lifestyle are provided, as well as a work program.

BritVil serves clients Monday through Friday from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M.

 

Service emphasis is on low-income families with minor children and low, fixed income senior citizens. Others are considered on the basis of disabilities or current financial crisis.


Approved clients are allowed to obtain food items once per month, with others helped 1-2 times per month as circumstances dictate.

22 Bridges

Bridges helps high school and college students who are living alone due to a family crisis, including the death of a parent, parental incarceration or chronic illness, or a traumatic home situation, to graduate high school and pursue a career or higher education.

The support they offer includes school expenses, food, clothing, medical care, baby needs, dental care, and furniture. They also offer sliding-scale housing at Sooner Pointe apartments. Just as important, they provide an individual case manager who helps students with everything from college planning to relationship guidance, taking the time to listen, advise, and care.

Students who are accepted into the Bridges program are expected to treat school as their main job. They must maintain passing grades and attendance, which are checked weekly on the Norman Public School website, ParentConnect.

Students who reside at Sooner Pointe apartments, a Bridges property that offers sliding-scale rent based on income, are assumed to be mature adults who can conduct themselves accordingly. For more information on program requirements, click here.

The Bethel Foundation has set up a store for single mothers to come and get clothing and food for their families at NO COST.  Hours of operation are Mondays thru Thursday from 9am to 6pm, allowing allowing single mothers to come during their lunch hour or after work.

 

The cupboard will provide emergency assistance with non-perishable food items.  Single mothers will be required to bring a picture i.d. and complete necessary paperwork.

 

The clothing closet will be filled with donated new or gently used clothing. Donated clothing may come from corporate retail donations or personal gifts to the closet.

The Women's Resource Center in Norman provides help to the victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. The Norman Shelter for Battered Women, the 24-hour Crisis Line and the Rape Response Team, fill an urgent need. WRC PROGRAMS

  • Domestic Violence Shelter - provides safe, temporary housing for victims of domestic violence and their children.
  • Rape Response Team - The Rape Response Team is a group of trained volunteers who are available, upon request through the Crisis Line, to meet rape victims at the hospital emergency room.
  • Counseling - A combination of short-term individual counseling and ongoing group counseling for survivors of domestic violence, incest, rape and (as staff time permits) women in transitional situations, is available.
  • Children's Programs - The services provided at WRC include groups for children that coincide with women's support groups. These groups focus on giving children a sense of choice and the freedom to express all emotions.
  • Court Advocacy - WRC can provide court advocates who assist women in accessing the legal system. The advocate can also assist victims who wish to file protective orders and offer moral support during other court experiences.
  • WRC Cells - "WRC Cells" is an agency sponsored program that can offer victims a cell phone at no cost. The cell phones can only reach "911".

The Ranch takes boys orphaned, abandoned, in need of supervision or from broken or dysfunctional homes.

    Pershing Center

    City Care’s transitional housing program provides an environment that encourages individuals to achieve long-term success – with commitments to the community, jobs, & themselves. This HUD and City of Oklahoma City sponsored Supportive Housing Program is designed for people who have shown a desire to change their lives and offers them assistance to get there. Local shelters serve the needs of the general homeless population. We instead, serve those with a desire to learn to live independently.Resiidents, who pay rent based on their income, may stay in the program for the time needed to adapt to the freedom and responsibility of independent living, up to 24 months.

    Westlawn Gardens

    City Care's Westlawn Gardens development includes a 24-unit permanent supportive housing project completed in 2008. This development provides much needed housing for low-income families with disabilities, including some who have completed their transitional housing program at Pershing Center.

    On-site supportive services include Case Management, Substance Abuse Counseling & recovery support, as well Life Skills training and other services.

    Bridges helps high school and college students who are living alone due to a family crisis, including the death of a parent, parental incarceration or chronic illness, or a traumatic home situation, to graduate high school and pursue a career or higher education.

    The support they offer includes school expenses, food, clothing, medical care, baby needs, dental care, and furniture. They also offer sliding-scale housing at Sooner Pointe apartments. Just as important, they provide an individual case manager who helps students with everything from college planning to relationship guidance, taking the time to listen, advise, and care.

    Students who are accepted into the Bridges program are expected to treat school as their main job. They must maintain passing grades and attendance, which are checked weekly on the Norman Public School website, ParentConnect.

    Students who reside at Sooner Pointe apartments, a Bridges property that offers sliding-scale rent based on income, are assumed to be mature adults who can conduct themselves accordingly. For more information on program requirements, click here.

    The Bethel Foundation has set up a store for single mothers to come and get clothing and food for their families at NO COST.  Hours of operation are Mondays thru Thursday from 9am to 6pm, allowing single mothers to come during their lunch hour or after work.

     

    The cupboard will provide emergency assistance with non-perishable food items.  Single mothers will be required to bring a picture i.d. and complete necessary paperwork.

     

    The clothing closet will be filled with donated new or gently used clothing. Donated clothing may come from corporate retail donations or personal gifts to the closet.
